parade of oranges

La Joya ISD marked its 100th anniversary with a vibrant presence at the 93rd Annual Parade of Oranges, held recently in Mission. The district's float earned 3rd place in the Fruitful Imagination category, a testament to the creativity and dedication of its participants.

Several schools from La Joya ISD showcased their talents during the parade. Enrique "Kiki" Camarena Elementary and Dr. Palmira Mendiola Elementary delighted spectators with their spirited performances. Palmview High School's Conjunto La Tradición and Juarez-Lincoln High School's folklórico group, Sol Azteca, added musical flair and cultural richness to the event.

Dr. Marcey Sorensen, Superintendent of La Joya ISD, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, "Seeing our students actively participate and showcase their talents in such a significant community event fills me with immense pride. Their dedication and passion truly reflect the spirit of La Joya ISD."

Adding to the district's pride, La Joya ISD is home to Ximena Lopez, junior from La Joya High School who now holds the esteemed title of Queen Citrianna the 89th. Her presence further highlighted the district's integral role in the community's cultural celebrations.

As La Joya ISD celebrates its centennial, its active involvement and accolades at the Parade of Oranges underscore a longstanding commitment to community engagement and the celebration of local culture.
